Stepfather Booked For 6-Yr-Old's Rape In Punjab

IANS, 27 Jul, 2017 11:50 AM
A shocking case of alleged sexual harassment of a six-year-old girl by her stepfather came to light at Peer Muchalla here today. The victim alleged that she was sexually harassed by him on several occasions.

The matter was reported to police after the victim confided in her neighbours, who called the child helpline 1098. A spokesman for the child helpline reported the matter to the Dhakoli police following which a case was registered under the POCSO Act against the accused, Amit Kumar, a resident of Khabaria in UP.

The police said the victim’s father died a few years ago after which the accused, a labourer, married her mother. They had two daughters from the wedlock. The police said the mother also died in a road accident a few months ago. The victim was living with Amit after the death of her parents.

The police said the initial medical examination of the victim had confirmed that she was been sexually abused. Efforts were on to arrest the accused, the police said.
