Surat-Based Billionaire Diamond Merchant Savji Dholakia Gives 600 Cars As Diwali Gifts - SEE PICS

    Surat-based billionaire diamond merchant Savji Dholakia is well-known for handing out lavish gifts to his employees on Diwali. And this year too, keeping with tradition, the billionaire does not disappoint.

     

    On Thursday, Mr Dholakia distributed 600 cars to the staff of his company, Hare Krishna Exports.

     

    It is for the first time that at a spectacular event -- 'Skill India Incentive Ceremony' in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, handed over the keys of the brand new cars to four employees, including a physically challenged female employee.

     

    The billionaire diamantaire, took to the social networking site Facebook and posted a picture with PM Modi saying that "Around 1700 diamond artists and engineers have been given the cars 'as part of our loyalty bonus programme for our employees'."

    This year the diamond polishers and engineers at Hare Krishna Group will receive Renault KWID and Maruti Suzuki Celerio cars.

     

    "The on-road price of both the cars are up to Rs. 4.4 lakh and Rs. 5.38 lakh, respectively," Mr Dholakia said on his Facebook post.

     

    There are around 5,500 employees in the company and among them, 4,000 have already received their gifts, said the post.

     

    In 2016, Mr Dholakia gifted 400 flats and 1,260 cars as Diwali bonus to his employees and in 2015, 491 cars and 200 flats were gifted, say reports. However, such lavish gifts were skipped last year.

     

    The diamond merchant, who comes from Amreli in Saurashtra region, had started his business with a small loan from his uncle, says reports.
