Teen's body found on Goa beach: Cops caution against sharing images

Panaji, Aug 12 (IANS) The Goa Police on Thursday issued a public appeal urging people not to broadcast photos of the remains of a 19-year-old girl, who was found in a semi-naked state at the popular Calangute beach earlier in the day.
The deceased, a resident of Nachinola village in North Goa, was missing since Wednesday morning and a missing complaint was filed by her father with a local police station.
"In an unfortunate incident reported at Calangute today, the dead body of a female was found at Calangute Beach. The matter is under investigation by District North Goa Calangute and Mapusa police station," the North Goa district police said in a statement.
"It is therefore requested to all persons to refrain from transmitting images of the dead body of the female as it is not only against the law but is also hurtful to the sentiments of the grieving family of the deceased woman," the statement also said.
Police also said that the body had been sent to a government hospital for a post mortem.
According to police, Assistant Town Planner Shail Bala Sharma was killed by Narayani guest house owner Vijay Thakur who allegedly fired four bullets at her inside the establishment in Mandudhar on the Dharampur-Kasauli road, at around 2.33 pm.
The large-scale death of hatchlings has been a setback for the Olive Ridley sea turtles conservation programme as one out of a thousand survives the life cycle to grow into an adult turtle.
The top court has been monitoring developments in the area to protect the historic monument, built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal in 1631. The mausoleum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Addrrssing election meetings, he also charged the Congress with blocking development and blamed it for political violence that led to the death of several RSS and BJP cadres in the state.
The deceased have been identified as Gurjeet, his elder brother Jaspal and his wife Sweety. They were found dead outside their house in Model Town late on Thursday.
