Teen's body found on Goa beach: Cops caution against sharing images

Panaji, Aug 12 (IANS) The Goa Police on Thursday issued a public appeal urging people not to broadcast photos of the remains of a 19-year-old girl, who was found in a semi-naked state at the popular Calangute beach earlier in the day.
The deceased, a resident of Nachinola village in North Goa, was missing since Wednesday morning and a missing complaint was filed by her father with a local police station.
"In an unfortunate incident reported at Calangute today, the dead body of a female was found at Calangute Beach. The matter is under investigation by District North Goa Calangute and Mapusa police station," the North Goa district police said in a statement.
"It is therefore requested to all persons to refrain from transmitting images of the dead body of the female as it is not only against the law but is also hurtful to the sentiments of the grieving family of the deceased woman," the statement also said.
Police also said that the body had been sent to a government hospital for a post mortem.

Rejecting as “inconclusive” the report of the Zora Singh Commission, the Punjab Government on Friday constituted a fresh Commission of Inquiry, headed by Justice (retd) Ranjit Singh, to investigate all cases of sacrilege in the state.
To raise awareness among the Punjabi youth on the state’s heritage, history and culture, Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu intends to introduce a compulsory subject on culture in schools and colleges.
Five persons were arrested on Friday in connection with the assault on CRPF men during bypoll to the Srinagar parliamentary seat on April 9, while two more disturbing videos went viral, sparking a fresh row in the restive Kashmir Valley.
The court also came down heavily on the trial court for not believing that the child was raped merely because the then four-year-old girl did not disclose that she had been sexually assaulted.
The 22-year-old man and the girl had met and fallen in love in Singapore where they had gone for further studies. After promising to get married, the accused took intimate pictures of them and that of the girl alone, a police official said.
