Using Braid-Chopping Hysteria As A Ruse, Baptised Sikh Boy Cuts Own Hair In Moga

    While several incidents of braid cutting have been reported from various parts of the country, an Amritdhari (baptised) Sikh boy from a Moga village on Tuesday made a claim that his hair were chopped off mysteriously. 
     
     
    Pardeep Pal Singh (14) wanted to have a haircut, and thought of the recent incidents as a perfect cover to execute his plans.
     
     
    Pal, initially stuck to his theory, but blurted out the truth after a local Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Boota Singh grilled him Pal admitted that he had cut his hair himself as he wanted to keep short hair, something his parents had forbidden him to do, as he was from a baptised family.
     
     
    Police said they were called after the boy reported that his hair were cut while he was sleeping at night. “When we reached the village, it was clear that the boy had concocted a story on his hair being cut. No action was sought,’ a police source said.
     
     
    Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) activist Buta Singh Daulatpura said, "When I asked the boy about the details, he initially claimed that a ghost had cut his hair. When grilled, he confessed that he wanted to get rid of the long hair. The boy added that since such incidents were being reported across the country, he thought of using the opportunity to cut his hair."
