Varun Gandhi Supporters Get Show Cause Notice From Amit Shah

Darpan News Desk IANS, 13 Jun, 2016 12:04 PM
  • Varun Gandhi Supporters Get Show Cause Notice From Amit Shah
Unhappy over Varun Gandhi's blatant attempt to project himself as probable chief ministerial candidate during BJP's two-day National Executive conclave here, the party on Monday issued show cause notice to two party workers, who allegedly were found to be involved in the goof-up.

Hundreds of posters of BJP Sultanpur MP Varun Gandhi were put in the the city to make sure that Varun Gandhi's candidacy is not missed, if the party is looking for a face to project in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections early next year.

However, the move did not go down well with the party's central leadership.

After noticing the posters on Sunday, Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah asked for a report on the issue from party cadres, and it was found out that two local party workers, who supported Gandhi, were involved in the act of putting hundreds of hoardings and posters in the city.

The posters also had images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah.

Shah had also taken a note of some party workers shouting slogans in support of Varun Gandhi at the entrance of the party National Executive meeting.

UP BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya, on thedirection of the party's central leadership, issued the notice to the party workers, party sources said.

The party leaders had gathered in Allahabad to brainstorm the strategy for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, which are due next year. The National Executive meet was attended by Modi, Shah and other senior leaders of the party.

The party had almost painted the city saffron with its posters and hoardings on both sides of the roads -- from railway station and airport to K.P. School ground, where the BJP conclave was held.
