Video Of Girl Hitting Out At Grandma Kiran Bedi Goes Viral

Darpan News Desk IANS, 05 Apr, 2019 09:01 PM

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the granddaughter of Kiran Bedi is seen accusing the Puducherry Lieutenant Governor of misusing "police influence" apparently to separate her from her father.

Bedi told IANS on Friday: "The court has directed all such videos to be removed forthwith. And the one mentioned has already been removed. Also a direction to the YouTube officials (has been sent) to do so (sic)," she said, adding the matter is sub judice, Bedi told IANS.

"I am very ashamed to be the granddaughter of Dr Kiran Bedi... the only one that too," the little girl said in the video which appears to have been shot by herself.

"When I called and told you (Kiran Bedi) that my mother is hitting my father with chappals and spitting on him, you had said that it is between a husband and a wife. Nani (grandmother), why are you using police influence now?"

The child repeatedly pointed out that she was safe and happy with her father and that there was no case of kidnapping.

The video was posted on Twitter on Thursday by Deepika Bhardwaj, a film-maker.

"Madam Bedi has apparently claimed her kidnapping when she is happy with her father and wants to be with him only," Bhardwaj said in a tweet.

In another tweet, she shared a link of the original video posted on YouTube. But YouTube has removed the video.

"I am appalled that Kiran Bedi told her granddaughter that it's a matter between husband and wife when her daughter beat up her husband with chappals, spit on him and thrashed him. I wonder if you'd say the same if a husband did this to his wife. You would book him under Section 498A."

The video has so far been viewed over 77,500 times on Twitter.
