  • Wanted Gangster Involved In Nabha Jailbreak Case Arrested
In a major breakthrough, the Intelligence Wing of Punjab Police have arrested a wanted gangster involved in the Nabha jailbreak case.

Sukhchain Singh, resident of Ulak village in Mansa, had been booked under various sections of the IPC and Arms Act at Nabha Kotwali police station.

Announcing this here on Wednesday, AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said that during a special operation, a police party led by Inspector Shaminder Singh held a naka on Nabha-Sangrur Road, and intercepted a Verna car, arrested Sukhchain and recovered a countrymade pistol and a revolver from him. Around 630 grams of intoxicant powder was also recovered from him.

Chauhan said the accused had put a fake number plate on the car recovered from him. The car was snatched by the accused from an agent of a car dealer by firing at him and injuring him on March 13 near Patran.

The AIG said that other than these, about a dozen cases of robbery, snatching, dacoity and attempt to murder were registered against Sukhchain.

He said that during the course of investigation, it came to light that Sukhchain was an accomplice of Gurpreet Singh Sekhon, the mastermind of the Nabha jailbreak case and had remained behind bars with Gurpreet at the Bathinda jail in 2014, where they came in contact.

Sukhchain played an important role in the jailbreak case and had fired shots upon entering the jail.

Sukchain was released on bail from Sangrur Jail in 2016 in a criminal case.
