Wanted shooter of Bambiha gang arrested by Punjab Police

Chandigarh, Sep 29 (IANS) Punjab Police have arrested Neeraj a.k.a. Chaska, the top-most wanted shooter of the Davinder Bambiha gang, for his involvement in multiple murders, including the murder of student leader Gurlal Brar, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said here on Thursday.
The murder of Brar, who was a close relative of Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, has triggered an inter-gang rivalry between the Davinder Bambiha gang and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, leading to a spate of murders in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and the National Capital Region (NCR) Delhi.
Brar was shot dead outside a nightclub in Chandigarh in October 2020.
The arrested gangster Neeraj, a.k.a. Chaska, who is resident of Jaito in Faridkot, is the main shooter of Bambiha gang, being controlled by foreign-based wanted gangster Gaurav, a.k.a. Lucky Patial, who is the main handler of Bambiha gang after gangster Davinder Bambiha was neutralized by Punjab Police in September 2016.
Neeraj had been absconding since 2019.
DGP Yadav said in an ongoing intelligence-based operation, a team of the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police, in coordination with central agencies has arrested Neeraj from Samba district in Jammu.
The police have also recovered two foreign-made pistols, besides 17 cartridges from his possession.
He said apart from Gurlal's murder, Neeraj has been directly involved in at least four more murders, including the murder of kabbadi player Money, who was killed in Jaito town of Faridkot district on the directions of Amna Jaito lodged in Ferozepur Jail in August 2019, and double murder case in which Pardeep, alias Panja, and Rahul were killed in Ambala in March 2021.
The DGP said Neeraj along with his associates had also killed Surjit Bouncer in Chandigarh in March 2020, following which the Davinder Bambiha group took the responsibility of the murder on Facebook claiming that Surjit was killed to avenge the killing of another bouncer Amit Sharma.
In less than 24 hours, police found the baby girl's parents, who were identified as Manjula and Sailesh Bajania. They admitted before the police that they buried the baby as it was premature birth, and since they were financially weak and feared medical expenses, they decided to bury her.
In her letter, DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal demanded that the woman's mortal remains be repatriated to her family in India and a team of psychologists, social workers and police officers meet her children and ascertain their condition.
As per this policy, the royalty of Rs 2.40 per cubic feet will be the same as earlier. Revenue collected under the Information and Technology Department and weigh bridge head, which is 10 paise per cubic feet, will be deposited in the state exchequer instead of being retained by the contractor currently.
BSF's Deputy Inspector General, Gurdaspur Sector, Prabhakar Joshi informed that BSF had recovered Rs 500, two mobile phones, two identity cards and a packet of tobacco from their possession. However, he said that their motive to infiltrate India was yet to be known and BSF was investigating the same.
Sharing details after a high-level meeting to review the situation, the Chief Minister said the GoM comprising Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and Animal Husbandry Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar would be assisted by experts from the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and officials from the animal husbandry department.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday granted bail to senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, who was in jail over for over five months for his alleged involvement in a drugs case registered in December 2021. A division Bench of Justices M.S. Ramachandra Rao and Sureshwar Thakur had reserved the order on the bail plea on July 29.
