Will Probe Corruption Charges Against Badals If Elected: Amarinder Singh

Darpan News Desk IANS, 17 Oct, 2016 01:18 PM
Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh today said he would launch investigations into each one of the "multiple scams that the Badals are involved in" if voted to power in the upcoming polls.

Badals have been "brazenly looting" the state through a series of scams - from drugs to the bus permit scam to sand smuggling and liquor mafia, Mr Singh claimed on the first day of his three-day Kisan Yatra roadshow.

"We will have each one of these scams thoroughly investigated, following the due process of law, and put every one of the guilty behind the bars," he said.

The Punjab Congress chief also vowed to "teach the Badals a lesson" for failing to procure the farmers' paddy from the mandis in Punjab on time, and assured the farmers that "nobody involved in harassing or cheating them would be spared".

"These Badals did not pick up your paddy, but I will pick them {Badals} up)," he said while addressing farmers at Baghapurana mandi in Moga.

Mr Singh promised to resolve their problems on priority basis once the Congress takes over the reins of Punjab.

Interacting with the farmers, Mr Singh reiterated his commitment to waiving off their debts, and also assured them of prompt redressal of all their grievances if he is voted to power.

Earlier, Mr Singh had reached Baghapurana around afternoon for his Kisan Yatra roadshow.

The three-day roadshow will continue on Tuesday from Faridkot, from where Captain Amarinder will leave for Ludhiana.
