  • 'You Were In California When 1984 Riots Happened', Capt Amarinder Singh To Sukhbir Badal
Parliamentary affairs Minister Brahm Mohindra on Monday tabled  the Ranjit Singh Commission report in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha following which the SAD leaders staged a walkout.

The debate on the four parts of the report would be held on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a never-ending drama was witnessed in the Assembly with the SAD leaders cornering the Congress on the issue of 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

As the SAD leaders raised slogans against the Congress, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh intervened, saying that it was the Akali Dal government in Punjab in 1984.

He accused the Akalis of picking up matters that suited them best politically.

To Sukhbir Singh Badal, Capt said when the riots broke out “you were in California in a University” and Bikram Singh Majithia was “only 8 years old”.

He also said that Rajiv Gandhi was in Bengal at that time.

Capt said that it was Individuals, and not the Congress, who were involved in the riots.
