4 Students In Tamil Nadu Raise Funds To Build A Toilet For Their Friend

    The students – identified as Vaseegaran, Rahul, Naveenraj and Harish – study in Class VIII at the SK Government High School in Thethakudi South Village.
     
    The caring group of kids was really disturbed to see that their friend and classmate Agathiyan, who came from a very underprivileged family, frequently fell ill and missed school. According to The Better India, he had even developed a skin disease on his foot.
     
    Agathiyan was suffering from all these health problems due to the simple fact that he lacked the basic sanitation facilities at home.
     
    When the four friends realised what exactly the problem was, they were determined to end his pain, and thus, decided to take matters into their own hands. They initiated a crowd-funding effort in their school and seek help from fellow students. They raised enough money to build a toilet for Agathiyan at his place.
     
    Interestingly, in order to save expenses, the inspiring children decided that they would do the actual construction work themselves. Their teacher Veeramani had encouraged the four friends in their heart-warming gesture. Veeramani also had helped them organise an Independence Day rally to raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and health and having a proper toilet at home.
