Husband Throws Acid On Wife In Delhi

Darpan News Desk IANS, 19 Oct, 2016 12:28 PM
A 20-year-old woman has been attacked with acid by her husband after she refused to go to her in-laws house in New Delhi.

The incident happened yesterday evening around 8.30 pm when the victim Amanpreet Kaur was called by her husband Pradeep Singh to District Park in Sector 16 Rohini for sorting out their differences, said a senior police officer.

"She had left her in-laws house on October 5 and had been staying at her parents' place in Rohini. Yesterday, Amanpreet met Pradeep and he asked her to return to his house. The victim refused and Pradeep poured acid on her," said DCP(Outer) MN Tiwari.

She protested and in that process, Pradeep also sustained burn injuries as the acid spilled on him and the Amanpreet's younger sister Vasraha, 10, who was accompanying her also sustained injuries on her leg, he said.

Amanpreet and Pradeep had a love marriage around five months back but their relations strained and the couple developed differences after which she left him, police said.

Yesterday, he had gone with a plan to attack her with acid if she didn't given in to his demand, police said.

"Both husband and wife sustained 35 to 40 per cent superficial to deep burns over abdomen, neck, arms and face."

"Initially, both were admitted to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini but were later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital. They were discharged today at 4 am," said the officer.

Pradeep has been arrested and a case under section 326 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC has been registered against him, he added.
