Male In Custody In Langley, B.C. After Two Robberies With An Axe

Darpan News Desk, 26 Jan, 2017 11:25 AM
In the early morning hours of January 13th, Langley RCMP received calls of two separate robberies at convenience stores in Langley – one in Murrayville and one in Brookswood.

Officers attended and spoke with the victims at the two locations and found that in both robberies the suspect produced an axe. Cigarettes, cash and a till drawer from a cash register were taken. A description of the suspect vehicle was given and fortunately Air One was in the area and able to locate the vehicle quickly.

Air One observed the vehicle as it drove through Langley at a high rate of speed not stopping at intersections. The vehicle came to rest at a residence in south Langley. Langley officers attended and found the vehicle parked in the driveway as described by Air One. The suspect was still sitting in the driver’s seat. He was ordered to exit and placed under arrest.

Items matching the description of those stolen were found scattered throughout the vehicle in addition to the hatchet.

Anthony James ROBERTSON, aged 31 of Langley, is charged with two counts of Robbery, two counts of disguising his face with intent and one count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He has been remanded in custody since his arrest and will next appear in Surrey Provincial Could on January 27th.
