Neighbour Alerts Police: Break And Enter Suspect Caught in the Act In Delta, B.C.

Darpan News Desk, 07 Feb, 2017 01:47 PM
On February 05, 2017 at approximately 10:15 a.m, Delta Police received a report of a possible break and enter in progress in the 11800 blk of 86A Avenue in North Delta.  Complainant initially reporting seeing an unknown male on the porch at a neighbour’s residence.

On arrival police observed footprints in the snow and an insecure door leading into the house. Officers then saw a male inside the residence attempting to hide from police. The small barking dog whose gaze was stuck on the suspect blew his cover.

Police, with the house surrounded, gave commands to the suspect to present himself to police. He complied and was taken into custody without incident.

During the investigation a key fob was located inside the victim’s residence that didn’t belong to anyone from the house. Police used the fob which activated a vehicle parked on the street nearby. The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen from the Surrey area. Further investigation will continue to determine the connection of the stolen auto to the suspect arrested for this break and enter.

The suspect taken into custody is a known active offender who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest at the time of this incident. He now faces a charge of Break and Enter and potentially additional charges. The suspect was transported to cells where he has been held for a Show Cause Hearing.

This case is a clear example of neighbours  being alert to suspicious activity and taking that extra step of calling police. Delta Police continue to encourage citizens to observe and report. Working together increases the potential for these kinds of outcomes and will hopefully discourage the criminal element from working in the Delta area.
