This German Woman In India Had The Perfect Lesson For Her 14-yr-old Harasser

Darpan News Desk IANS, 03 Aug, 2016 12:24 PM
Women In India are ogled at, inappropriately touched, passed comments at – and all in broad daylight. What’s shocking is that the perpetrators are not least bit scared of their wrongdoings because they know it will be ignored.

Unfortunately, such is the mentality that’s crept in the consciousness of Indian society.

But Ulrike Reinhard, a German woman who is the CEO of Janwaar Castle, a non-profit company that works for the upliftment of the villagers of Janwaar in Madhya Pradesh, decided not to ignore it when a 14-year-old walking on the road wrapped his arm around her waist and touched her inappropriately because he was a “man”. She taught him a lesson he may never forget.

Reinhard shared the incident on Facebook, which has garnered massive support by people on social media and has gone viral.

She was taking a walk in the village market when the boy came and touched her on her upper left arm. Upon asking why he did that, he said, “I am a man”.

Reinhard immediately decided to take him to the police station and file a complaint against him, but a few metres before the station, he ran away with his friend. She went ahead and told the police who successfully caught him. His parents and schoolteachers were called upon, who vouched for how “good” a boy he was and had never done anything wrong – thus far! They insisted Reinhard not file a complaint, promising to “beat him” themselves.

That’s when she thought a campaign around “How to treat women right!” headed by the boy in his school would be a good idea to teach him a lesson, and the police agreed.
