Uttar Pradesh: Jilted Woman Abducts Ex-Lover At Gun-point From His From Wedding Mandap

IANS, 18 May, 2017 12:33 PM
The groom — Ashok Yadav, who is still missing — fell in love with the abandoned woman when they used to work at a doctor's clinic.

The groom, Ashok Yadav, had promised to marry the woman, but stopped seeing her after his family fixed his marriage with another woman. The woman and the groom are still missing.

Stories of jilted men forcibly taking away brides from wedding venues are heard of, but in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, a woman set a new trend by kidnapping her ex-boyfriend, moments before he was to tie the knot.

The shocking episode that took place on Tuesday in Bundelkhand has the whole town talking. However, the groom is still missing.

“I have known him for eight years now. I told him that I would not let this wedding happen, but he was not aware that I would take such a step. Even he was not ready for the marriage,” Varsha Sahu, the accused, said.

Following this dramatic series of events, the police was called in to investigate.

Police said the woman, a resident of the Banda district, worked at a private clinic with Ashok Yadav (the kidnapped man), who had an affair with the woman for the past several months.

“The boy was from Banda. What happened was that she came to the venue and took the groom. The girl has been caught and the girl said they are lovers. She also said that the boy was not happy with the wedding and they both love each other,” said Hamirpur Assistant Sub-inspector

According to the locals, the groom — Ashok Yadav, who is still missing — fell in love with the woman when they used to work at a doctor’s clinic. It has also been reported that they were in a relationship before the man agreed to marry a young girl due to family pressure.

The trouble ensued in paradise when the guy wouldn’t return his girlfriend’s calls or WhatsApp messages, said a TOI report. Meanwhile, the bride, Bharti Yadav, inconsolably shed tears and hoped that such an incident wouldn’t befall on her greatest enemies too.

After the unfortunate incident, the groom’s father, Ramhet Yadav, said, “There was definitely something suspicious about my son. When I tried to visit him in the town where he worked, he would not invite me to his home. Instead, we would meet at a temple and feed me at a food stall near there and then send me home.”
