VIDEO: Dumbstruck Sunny Deol Asks 'What Is Balakot Air Strike' During Gurdaspur Rally

Darpan News Desk IANS, 08 May, 2019 05:12 PM

Actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol, who kicked off his election campaign recently by reminding voters of the patriotic character he played in Gadar and referred to his ‘dhai kilo ka haath’ from another movie, on Monday admitted that he does not know much about India’s relations with Pakistan or IAF’s Balakot strike.

"I do not know much about issues like Balakot strikes or India's relations with Pakistan. I am here to serve people. If I win, maybe I will have an opinion, right now I don't," Deol was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Describing Sunny’s statement as “shocking and outrageous”, his Congress rival Sunil Jakhar said it had come as a surprise to residents of this border constituency where passions often run high every time there is any anti-Pakistan development such as the Balakot air strike.

“BJP has been working overtime to weave a narrative around the air strikes. However, the actor is killing his party’s plot.

This, coming from a candidate hand-picked by the PM because of his anti-Pakistan image in films, is an unthinkable proposition. What message does the BJP intend to send to its cadres and voters by fielding such a candidate? It is better for him to go back to the film sets of Mumbai,” Jakhar said.
