Virender Sehwag's Epic Response To Piers Morgan's Tweet On India's Olympic Celebration

IANS, 24 Aug, 2016 12:33 PM
British journalist Piers Morgan's sarcastic tweets on India's massive celebrations after winning two medals at the Rio Olympics have led to a war of words between him and cricketing great Virender Sehwag.

The fiery, former opening batsman pulled back no punches today when he reminded Mr Morgan on Twitter that "Indians cherish every small happiness," but England who invented the sport of cricket are yet to win a world cup.

Mr Sehwag's response immediately went viral on Twitter with over 5,000 retweets and 5,600 likes in two hours.

Not one to back down easily, Mr Morgan shot back saying had Kevin Pietersen still been playing, England would have won the world cup.

Mr Sehwag was quick to remind the British journalist that Mr Pietersen was originally from South Africa and not England, and had played the 2007 Cricket World Cup, which England went on to lose.

Earlier today, Mr Morgan was massively trolled on Twitter when he re-posted a report on India welcoming its Olympic achievers and wrote alongside, "Country with 1.2 billion people wildly celebrates 2 losing medals. How embarrassing is that?"

India had won two medals at the Rio Olympics which concluded on Sunday. Shuttler PV Sindhu won a Silver while Sakshi Malik won Bronze in wrestling.
