Virgin Airlines Staff Spills Boiling Water On 5-Year-Old, Leads To Second-Degree Burns

  • Virgin Airlines Staff Spills Boiling Water On 5-Year-Old, Leads To Second-Degree Burns
A five-year-old boy suffered second-degree burns after a pot of boiling water was spilt over his leg on a Virgin Airlines flight.

This horror story of the Perth boy has left everyone stunned. The accident occurred on a Brisbane to Perth flight, and the parents of the young boy were furious with the airline service staff.

The young boy, Matthew Gibson was travelling with his family when a flight attendant spilt a hot cup of noodles on him, the mother revealed. However, the airlines have a different tale to tell.

According to a 9News report, the airlines have denied that it was their fault, even though the parents of the young boy have shared images of the boy’s burnt leg and gave a firsthand account of the entire incident.

The 5-year-old was sleeping when the accident took place and also accused the airlines of not giving proper first aid as they were unprepared for the medical emergency of such a young person. The airline’s staff first tried pouring cold water on the boy’s leg and ended up putting ice in a thin cloth and wet flannels before the paramedics met them.

The mother also complained that the flight attendants did not have any age appropriate pain killers or basic burn gels.

However, Virgin Australia said that their crew had responded appropriately in line with the medical training and safety procedures.

According to the Australian Medical Association applying ice cubes on second and third-degree burns increase the risk of frost bites. In addition to this statement, the airlines also offered to refund the flight charges and pay for the ambulances.
