Watch: Saudi Therapist Giving A Lesson On How Husbands Should Beat Their Wives

IANS, 13 Aug, 2016 02:35 PM
In a video uploaded on YouTube by The Cooperative Office for Da’wa and Guidance in Western Al-Dirah, the therapist says wives should be beaten not out of anger but as a means to discipline her.

Also, they should not be beaten using a rod or sharp object but using a tooth-cleaning twig or a handkerchief.

He believes that the basic problem is when wives are disobedient and husbands don’t know how to deal with it. “Some women disobey their husbands and make mistakes with them,” he says. Then the ‘therapist’ goes on to list the steps as to how the husband should first remind her of his ‘rights’ and her ‘duties’.

In the second step, he should ‘forsake’ her in bed and then finally resort to beating if she doesn’t mend her ways.

In the list of other obnoxious statements he makes, this one stands out. “Unfortunately, some wives want to live a life of equality with their husband,” he says like it’s a prohibited and not a fundamental right.

The video was reportedly shot in February this year and was translated and shared by Washington DC-based Middle East Media Research Institute.
