Yaadein: A Tribute To Jagjit Singh Presented By Kabir Bedi And Tauseef Akhtar In Vancouver

Darpan News Desk, 15 Feb, 2017 10:21 AM
TAUSEEF AKHTAR was only 15 years old when he composed the much acclaimed gazal album AASHIYANA and he attributed the success to his mentor JAGJIT SINGH JI, who not only nurtured him but treated him as his best disciple .

Talented Tauseef became the assistant to the popular duo of Nadeem & Shravan and sang many songs in films like Yeh Dil Aashiqana, Dil Hai Tumhara, Yeh Dil, Tumse Achha Kaun Hai and Ansh among others, however, gazal was his first love and he eventually returned to doing what he always wanted.

Encouraged by his seniors like Ashok Khosla & Ghansham Vaswani, Tauseef Akhtar became one of the most admired young gazal singers in Mumbai and soon started performing with the likes of Talat Aziz, Pankaj Udhas, Chandan Das, Bhupinder Singh & Radhika Chopra amongst others.

Like everyone else, he too was shattered by the sudden death of Jagjit Singh and his homage was the soulful rendition of his own composition YAADEIN, which brought tears to one and all and evoked such interest that he decided to pay a tribute to his mentor, teacher & guide JAGJIT SINGH through the narration of OM PURI, a friend & colleague of Jagjit Singh.

The rehearsals & photo shoot were going well for YAADEIN: Remembering the LEGEND, a fitting tribute to Jagjit Singh Ji on his 76th birthday when Om Puri Ji suddenly passed away after a massive heart attack on January 6, 2017 jeopardising the entire North American Tour.

Amidst the gloom & doom, India's International Theatre & Film Star KABIR BEDI stepped in as a saviour to replace Om Puri and the event became YAADEIN: Remembering the LEGENDS .

Acclaimed as India's first international star with a huge fan following in Europe, Kabir Bedi made his name as a theatre artist and much before Priyanka Chopra, he was a popular name in TV serials like Lost Empire, Dynasty & Magnum PI amongst others while his portrayal of SANDOKAN gave him a cult status in Italy.

Touted as the 'First Event of 2017' , KVP Entertainers are presenting this incredible homage to India's Finest Gazal Singer JAGJIT SINGH JI & India's Finest Actor OM PURI JI with 'An Evening of Geet & Gazal' by Tauseef Akhtar and narrated by the baritone voice of Kabir Bedi at the MOLSON CANADIAN Theatre at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 7 PM

Tickets at $35, 50, 75 & VIP are available at KAMAL'S VIDEO PALACE (KVP Entertainers on Facebook) at (604)592-9777 and please call at (604)833-1977 for more information.
