2 Sikh men were attacked and robbed in New York in Queens on Tuesday, the same neighbourhood in the city where an elderly Sikh man was the target of a hate crime less than 2 weeks ago.

The attack happened “very close” to the area where Nirmal Singh was punched in an unprovoked assault on April 3.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee chief and BJP member took to Twitter and expressed anger over the attack.

The Consulate General of New York expressed their heartfelt concern regarding the attack in a Twitter post.

A police complaint has been filed in the incident and one person has been arrested.

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards also shared his disgust and horror over the attack.

The Sikh Coalition expressed their gratitude to Republican Grace Meng on recognizing that the Sikh community had been wronged.

New York State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar condemned the incident using harsh words.

The Sikh Coalition is not revealing the identities of the 2 Sikh men due to privacy concerns. The individuals are feeling better and have received medical aid.
