3 Years On: Sikhs To Commemorate 2012 Wisconsin Gurdwara Shooting

Darpan News Desk IANS, 31 Jul, 2015 10:16 AM
A Sikh organisation will observe the annual day of seva (service) in 14 US cities on August 1 in the memory of those who were killed in the 2012 Wisconsin Sikh temple shooting.

The Sikh Coalition -- a community-based organisation that works toward the realisation of civil and human rights -- will mark the third anniversary of the Oak Creek Gurdwara massacre in which six people were killed and several others were injured.

To commemorate the anniversary, the Oak Creek sangat (congregation) will organise the "Chardhi Kala 6K Memorial Walk and Run" on August 1, Sikh Coalition's official website said.

The organisation has also prepared a "Seva Toolkit" which contains suggestions and tips on how to set up a family-friendly seva project in one's city, possible organisations to work with, and how to engage the community and media.
