35-Yr-Old Moga Man Nirveer Singh Shot Dead In Philippines; Wife Has Narrow Escape

Darpan News Desk IANS, 26 Nov, 2019 10:18 PM

A 35-year-old Punjabi man identified as Nirveer Singh hailing from Vadda Ghar village of Moga district was allegedly shot dead at Binangonan town in Rizal province in Philippines on Tuesday.

Confirming the incident, the aggrieved father of the deceased youth, Malkit Singh, said his son was going along with his wife Ramandeep Kaur on a motorcycle to a local hospital in Binangonan town at 8 am when two unidentified masked youths, who were chasing them on a motorcycle, came closer and one of them fired shots at his son from a close range with a pistol leaving him dead on the spot.

However, Ramandeep had a narrow escape in the attack. She got minor injuries after she fell down from the motorcycle.

Malkit Singh said his son went to Philippines about 10 years back.

For the past couple of years, he had started his own finance company — giving loans to local traders.

He said Nirveer last came home two years back when he married Ramandeep Kaur.

Last year, Ramandeep also went to Philippines and started living along with her husband.

He further revealed that the Rizal provincial police had registered a criminal case of murder against unknown persons. The assailants were yet to be identified by the cops, he said.

Meanwhile, he has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to bring back the body of his son from Philippines for performing the last rites, here, as per the local customs.
