Al Qaeda Terrorists Trying To Reunite In Pakistan

Darpan News Desk IANS, 15 Oct, 2019 08:24 PM

Pakistan's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has expressed doubts that a faction separated from the Al Qaeda in Indian Sub-continent (AQIS), the Indian sub-continent unit of terrorist outfit Al Qaeda, is trying to recreate its base in Karachi.

A report in the Pakistani media said that the CTD also claimed to have eradicated two groups involved in the murders of policemen and communal killings.

"We have an input that six 'unsatisfied' militants of the AQIS have reached Karachi from Afghanistan. They are trying to re-activate their 'sleeper-cell'," CTD officer Raja Umar Khattab said.

He said: "It is believed that this is a group of militants who belong to various communities in Pakistan. They had left for Afghanistan. Following some differences with their leadership they have now returned to Karachi".

He hoped that they would be neutralised before they can commit any terrorist activity.

Khattab said two groups involved in communal violence have been finished. The groups were being led by terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Sipah-e-Muhammad Pakistan.
