Four Held For Robberies In Indian Residents' Homes In US

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 03 Nov, 2015 11:17 AM
Four men were arrested in the US for committing burglaries in the houses of people of Indian and Asian origin, a media report said.

The police in College Station city of Texas state, on Saturday arrested four people of South American origin on the charge of committing robberies in the area, KBTX.com news website reported on Monday.

Police said the group of burglars used to commit the crimes during lunchtime.

Since September, the houses of Indian and South Asian residents in the city were being targeted.

"We did a lot of analytical work, to try and build a pattern of when they were going to hit, when its most likely and what neighbourhoods were most targeted," Billy Couch, assistant chief of police, said.

Police officers patrolling in the area on Saturday spotted two vehicles they suspected were being used for the burglaries.

"We were able to stop one vehicle with three suspects inside, a second vehicle sped from the spot but ultimately crashed into another vehicle," said Couch.

"An ongoing investigation is trying to link them to other crimes that occurred," he said.

Earlier this year, several burglaries were reported in Plano, Richardson and Frisco cities in Texas.

In each case, the victims were of Indian and Asian descent. Police had suspected a Colombian crime ring of the burglaries.
