Iceland Cricket Offers Ambati Rayudu Permanent Residency After World Cup Snub

Darpan News Desk IANS, 03 Jul, 2019 08:30 PM

Ambati Rayudu was left disappointed after his exclusion from the 15-member squad of Team India for the ICC World Cup 2019.

Rayudu, who took a dig at the selectors for choosing Vijay Shankar over him, was not called up even following the injuries to Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar. Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal were called up instead of him.

On Tuesday, Iceland Cricket put out a hilarious tweet about how Mayank, who is the latest member to join the Indian team in England, has only three professional wickets at 72.33 and that Rayudu could play for them instead.

Iceland Cricket also tweeted out the application form for permanent residency in Iceland if the Indian batter intended to take them up on their offer.

"Agarwal has three professional wickets at 72.33 so at least Ambati Rayudu can put away his 3D glasses now. He will only need normal glasses to read the document we have prepared for him. Come join us Ambati. We love the Rayudu things," tweeted Iceland Cricket.

Indian middle-order has been criticised a lot in the on-going ICC World Cup due to its inefficiency to pace the innings in the last 15 overs. Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has also received criticism for his slow strike-rate in recent innings.

Rayudu has played 55 ODIs for India, scoring 1694 runs at an average of 47.05 with three hundreds and 10 half-centuries. He also featured in six T20 internationals and made 42 runs in them.
