Indebted Indian migrant commits suicide in Bahrain

Darpan News Desk IANS, 25 May, 2015 01:01 PM
A debt-ridden Indian mechanic killed himself in Bahrain, media reported on Monday.

Pramu Sudheer, 41, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his Muharraq City labour accommodation along with a suicide note on Saturday morning, the Gulf Daily News reported.

"There was a suicide note that said he was in a lot of debt which he could not repay," said Prasanna Kumar, a cousin of the deceased.

Sudheer had been in Bahrain for seven years, according to his cousin, but had not been able to return home to visit his family even once in all that time.

"He always said that he was in a lot of debt and everything that he earned was not enough to meet his expenses. Now I hear that he owed thousands of dinars to many people," Kumar added.

Sudheer was originally from Kerala and leaves behind his wife and two children aged 12 and seven.
