Indian-origin IS member poses with newborn on Twitter

Darpan News Desk IANS, 26 Nov, 2014 11:26 AM
An Indian-origin Islamist who skipped bail in Britain to join the Sunni radical group Islamic State (IS) in Syria has posed on Twitter with his newborn son hailing a new “generation” of Islamists, a media report said Wednesday.

Abu Rumaysah, 31, born Siddhartha Dhar to a family of Indian origin, posted a photograph on Twitter with the hashtag #GenerationKhilafah, meaning those who live under the self-proclaimed caliphate, The Independent reported.

"Alhamdulillah (all praise be to Allah) Allah (God) blessed me with a healthy baby boy in the Islamic State," he tweeted.

Rumaysah, known in Britain for promoting his radical views on television, was linked to Anjem Choudary, who was arrested on terror charges.

He was arrested along with eight other men in September this year on suspicion of encouraging terrorism.

Rumaysah disappeared soon after being freed on police bail by Scotland Yard detectives investigating Choudary’s inner circle. A police spokesperson said they were working to establish his whereabouts.
