IS militants bomb homes of military and police in Iraq

Darpan News Desk IANS, 12 Dec, 2014 11:09 AM
Islamic State (IS) militants blew up the homes of Iraqi military and police personnel as well as members of the Shabak religious minority Thursday in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

A spokesman for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Mosul, Saeed Mamozeini, told EFE that a total of 17 houses were demolished with explosives in a district located south of the city which was previously inhabited by members of the security forces.

The jihadis also destroyed three homes of the ethnic Shabak group in an area of eastern Mosul, the capital of Nineveh province.

All the homes were empty as their inhabitants have fled the conflict or been killed by the terrorist group which recently began to blow up houses of those who belong to the military and police, as well as homes of ethnic and religious minorities such as Christians and Kurds.

The bombings were seen as retaliation for the continuing air strikes carried out by the US-led international coalition against the positions of militant group in Mosul, according to the Kurdish spokesman.
