Jordanian Woman Accused Of Molesting Indian Man In Dubai

Darpan News Desk IANS, 24 Feb, 2015 12:50 PM
A Jordanian woman has been accused of molesting an Indian man in a lift in Dubai last year and stealing 4,500 dirhams (nearly $1,230) from him, according to media reports Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Indian man was said to have entered the lift of his office, according to his prosecution statement, when the 32-year-old Jordanian woman molested him, Gulf News reported.

“Once I pressed the button for the fourth floor, the woman lifted her niqab (face cover). She drew herself towards me, then hugged and kissed me against my will. Then she groped me,” the man said, adding “...I rushed out quickly before realising that she had stolen Dh4,500 from my wallet.”

Prosecutors charged the Jordanian woman with hugging and kissing the employee against his will and groping him.

“That is absolutely untrue. It is all a lie and his claims are unfounded. I did not and would never do such a thing,” argued the defendant when she entered a not guilty plea before the Dubai court of first instance Tuesday.

The judge adjourned the case to hear the claimant's statement when the court would reconvene March 8.

China's Dowager Empress Cixi has been long reviled as a despotic ruler who rose to power by harem intrigue, but it was she who transformed a medieval country into a modern nation, gave rights to citizens especially women and opened and facilitated China's engagement with the world for its own benefit, says a Chinese author.
