Kamloops Airport Evacuated Over Suspicious Package That Turned Out To Be A Painting

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 27 Mar, 2015 12:43 PM

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — A rolled-up painting stored inside a tube is the latest suspicious-looking package to force an evacuation in Western Canada.

Kamloops, B.C., airport manager Fred Legace (legacy) says an employee noticed a suspicious looking package Thursday afternoon and sounded an alert.

He says the airport was evacuated and the RCMP found that the item was actually a painting rolled up for transport.

An Air Canada flight scheduled to leave for Vancouver at 5:50 p.m. was cancelled, while the carrier's 6:20 flight departed.

Earlier this month, Metro Vancouver's SeaBus terminal was evacuated for four hours when a suspicious item ended up being a Walkman.

A section of the West Edmonton Mall was closed to shoppers March 17 when a mysterious box was left on a bench but turned out to be a DVD player. (CFJC)
