Karnal Youth Kidnapped In Philippines, Rescued

Darpan News Desk IANS, 30 Jul, 2018 12:07 PM
The Philippines police have rescued a 20-year-old Karnal youth from the clutches of kidnappers late last night after the local police wrote a letter to the Indian Ambassador in that country, requesting him to take prompt action in the matter.

As per Karnal SP Surinder Singh Bhoria, Pardeep Kumar was allegedly kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 5 lakh. His father, Rajinder, a resident of Dhanokheri village, had approached the SP on July 28 night and informed him about the kidnapping of his son.

Without wasting time, the Karnal SP wrote a letter to the Indian High Commission in the Philippines, requesting the Indian envoy to take up the matter with the authorities concerned for saving the life of Pardeep.

Pardeep had gone to Singapore to study hotel management after completing his Class 12 from a school here in September 2016.

The SP said the family members were informed by a girl through Facebook Messenger. The girl, a Facebook friend of Pardeep, said that he was abducted and a ransom of Rs 5 lakh had been demanded by his kidnappers.

“The youth is safe now and has also spoken to his family members. We are thankful to the Indian High Commission and also the Philippine police,” the SP said.

Karnal Deputy Commissioner Aditya Dahiya also appreciated the efforts of Karnal SP in rescuing the youth.

The father of the youth said he has requested the Indian Ambassador for a routine health check-up of his son. “We are happy with the prompt action of the Karnal SP and thank him for rescuing my son,” he said.

The SP said the role of the girl in Pardeep’s kidnapping was being investigated by the Philippines police.
