Man In Pakistan Arrested For Putting Wife At Stake In Gambling

    The police arrested a man for allegedly putting his wife at stake in gambling, losing it and forcing her to go with his contestants for a night.

     

    City police arrested Ali Raza of Chinioti Road after registering an FIR against him on Sunday on the complaint of his mother-in-law.

     

    Sumaira Qamar, a resident of Satellite Town, stated in the FIR that her daughter, Mehwish, was married with Ali Raza some three years ago and he would often torture her.

     

    On Saturday night, he came home under influence, asked wife to stay for a night with his friend as he had lost her in gambling.

     
     

    On her refusal, he tortured her with a knife. As the woman raised hue and cry, neighbours came to her help, making the suspect flee.

     

    Mehwish was shifted to the DHQ hospital for medico-legal test which proved torture marks and injuries on her face and body.

     

    Ali Raza told the media he suspected her having relations with others and tried to snatch her mobile phone to check it. He denied the charges of drinking or losing his wife in gambling.
