Musharraf seeks access to federal probe report

Darpan News Desk, IANS, 24 Apr, 2014 11:05 AM
Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf requested the special court that is trying him for high treason Thursday to order the government to provide him with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) report.

The three-judge bench comprising Justice Faisal Arab, Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali Khan heard the case Thursday, Geo News reported.

Farogh Nasim, lawyer for the former president, told the court he would submit his reply to prosecutor Akram Sheikh’s arguments and requested the court to order the government to provide him the investigative report submitted by the FIA, the report said.

Prosecutor Akram Sheikh, however, refused to hand over the investigative report.

Nasim argued that the Special Court Act was not comprehensive and that was why the country's Supreme Court ordered for criminal proceedings in the case.

On March 31, Musharraf was formally charged for subverting the constitution by imposing Emergency in the country Nov 3, 2007.

The former army strongman, however, has rejected all charges levelled against him.
