  • Obama makes surprise visit to Afghanistan
US President Barack Obama paid a surprise visit to Afghanistan Sunday, an Afghan official said.

Obama arrived at the Bagram air base, the main US base in Afghanistan, to meet American troops in the country, late Sunday, reported Xinhua citing the unnamed official.

Though US president had no plan of meeting Afghan President Hamid Karzai and the two leading presidential candidates of upcoming presidential runoff, he was scheduled to visit the injured soldiers in Afghanistan.

This is Obama's fourth trip to the war-hit Afghanistan.
