Pakistani Citizens Demand Nobel Peace Prize For PM Imran Khan

Darpan News Desk IANS, 02 Mar, 2019 03:12 AM

Pakistani citizens on Friday filed an online petition that states Prime Minister Imran Khan should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his 'gesture of peace' after he announced that his government will release Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.

The online petition has over 50 thousand signatures already.

With more than 22,600 tweets ‘#NobelPeacePrize ForImranKhan’ has been the top trending hashtag on Twitter in Pakistan.

Many citizens believe that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s announcement has de-escalated a war-like situation between the neighbouring countries after the terror attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama on February 14.

The petition reads: “His (Imran Khan's) aims of ensuring lasting peace in the region and discouraging revival of militarism should be recognized and greatly appreciated".
