Plans Afoot To Build New Gurdwara In Scotland

Darpan News Desk IANS, 19 Oct, 2015 11:04 AM
Authorities in North Ayrshire, one of the 32 council areas in Scotland, are mulling a proposal to construct a new gurdwara in the industrial town of Irvine, a media report said.

The council on Saturday received a proposal-cum-plan seeking approval to construct a gurdwara near George Court in Irvine town, Irvine Times reported on Sunday.

It was proposed that the new gurdwara would be built just yards away from Guru Nanak Gurdwara, the one already existing in the town.

Guru Nanak Gurdwara is currently Ayrshire County's only gurdwara.

If approved, the multi-storey building would have a meeting hall, offices, a classroom, kitchen and dining hall on the ground and first floors. The main prayer hall would be constructed on the second floor.
