Religious Conflict Over JUI's 'Azadi March' In Pakistan

Darpan News Desk IANS, 23 Oct, 2019 08:40 PM

The Barelvi school of thought blamed the JUI-F of trying to divert attention from the issues of national importance, the Pakistani media reported.

Addressing separate press conferences here, Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYR) chief Ashraf Asif Jalali along with 25 other Barelvi organisations urged democratic forces to stay away from the march.

Accusing JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman of following the enemies' agenda, they said the march would divert public attention from the genocide of Kashmiri Muslims.

They announced to observe countrywide Kashmir Solidarity Day on October 25 and hold Solidarity of Pakistan Convention at the Convention Center Islamabad on October 26 to oppose the 'Azadi march'. Rallies would also be organised across the country, they added.
