This Nepal College Fulfills Differently-Abled Students' Education Dream

    It was hard for the differently-abled students of Palpa district in western Nepal to go to educational institutions initially, but the Tansen Multiple Campus has come to their rescue.
     
     
    Radheshyam Gyawali, campus chief of the Tansen Multiple Campus, while speaking to media, said that initially due to lack of the infrastructure, they were not able to manage the immense flow of students at the campus.
     
     
    He, however, said that they successfully achieved their plans after getting donations from the Indian Embassy.
     
     
    "This campus was established in the year of 2047 B.C. as the first community campus of Palpa district. We faced an immense flow of students from the beginning but we were not able to cope up due to lack of the infrastructure and used to rent buildings to commence classes. Then we came to know about the donations from the Indian Embassy for the educational institutions. We went forward with our proposal and we became successful in achieving our plans,"
     
     
    The Indian government at that time released the amount of 1.54 lakhs for the construction of a new building in Tansen, the headquarter of the Palpa district. The land in which the building stands now was pre-owned by the campus and now it hosts over 1,000 students in a session with classes up to post-graduation level.
     
     
    The then Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Mukherjee had laid the foundation stone for the construction of the building on March 21, 2007. It was handed over in March 21, 2011.
     
     
    "This building was built in particular with the aid from the Indian Embassy, which helped visually impaired people like us. We are visually impaired and the railings here have helped us to walk here and there with protection. The stairs facilitate our walking without any constraints," Shyam Neupane, a visually impaired student, completing graduation degree in the campus told.
     
     
    With the addition of the latest infrastructure, the flow of students in the college has increased gradually, leading to a rise in the access to the education in the district. An estimated 500 students have completed their post-graduation degree from the college in the last seven years.
