US Vice-President Kamala Harris tests positive for Covid-19

Washington, April 26 (IANS) US Vice President Kamala Harris tested positive for Covid-19 on undergoing rapid and PCR tests, her spokesperson said.
Today I tested positive for COVID-19. I have no symptoms, and I will continue to isolate and follow CDC guidelines. I’m grateful to be both vaccinated and boosted.
"She has exhibited no symptoms, will isolate and continue to work from the Vice President's residence," the spokesperson added on Tuesday in a statement.
Harris, 57, has not been a close contact to US President Joe Biden or the first lady "due to their respective recent travel schedules," the statement said.
The statement added that the Vice-President will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and the advice of her physicians and will return to the White House when she tests negative, Xinhua news agency reported.
In a statement Friday, the two pharmaceuticals said their submission to the European Medicines Agency is based on an advanced study in more than 2,000 adolescents that showed their vaccine to be safe and effective.
In the same breath, however, the speech marking Biden's first 100 days as commander-in-chief offered a measure of comfort by suggesting Buy American would not offend the terms of trade deals like the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement.
So far, Pfizer's ongoing trial indicates the company's two-dose vaccine remains highly effective for at least six months, and likely longer. People who got Moderna’s vaccine also still had notable levels of virus-fighting antibodies six months after the second required shot.
Attorney General Merrick Garland says the investigation will look into the department's use of force and whether it engaged in discriminatory practices.
