A grand wedding, the key to a happy marital life

Darpan News Desk IANS, 27 Aug, 2014 04:15 PM
Call more guests to your wedding if you want your marital life to be successful.

According to a report, US citizens who had more guests at their ceremony were more likely to report high quality marriages than those with a small wedding party.

Also, having fewer sex partners before wedding was considered to be the mantra for achieving successful bonding, said findings from the National Marriage Project report co-authored by psychologists Galena K. Rhoades and Scott M. Stanley.

The project explored the association between pre- and post-marital experiences among young adults.

The authors analysed data from the US relationship development study funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

The study recruited over 1,000 Americans between 2007 and 2008 who were unmarried but in a relationship with someone of the opposite sex and between the ages of 18 and 34.

In the next five years, 418 of those individuals got married.

The authors found that the majority of them had sex before marriage with multiple partners.

But 23 percent had only one sexual partner.

"Those 23 percent individuals reported a better quality of marriage than people who had multiple sexual partners," the authors were quoted as saying in the New York Times.
