City of Surrey launches Paw Play in the Park Program

Darpan News Desk, 29 Jun, 2017 04:58 PM
The Surrey Animal Resource Centre presents Paw Play in the Park at a park near you this summer. The City of Surrey fully supports our local canine community in enjoying our wonderful natural spaces in harmony with other residents. The event’s goal is to encourage good dog behavior in our park spaces and introduce our residents to positive ways to communicate with their pets.

We believe educated and engaged dogs make better neighbours. Paw Play will bring expertise, tools, and resources to people in the community. Each event will be catered to the specific needs of the community it is taking place in. Pet owners will be provided with positive, fun and free activities to share with their animals, including free items (exchanging punitive training tools for humane ones), playing interactive games, answering questions about dog behavior and using local animal professionals to demonstrate fun safe activities people can engage in with their pets. There will also be dog agility, tricks, professional pet photographers, pet first aid instructors and people who can help you with some basic dog park etiquette as well.

The Surrey Animal Resource Centre supports all animal owners in Surrey and by meeting dog owners in their neighbourhood we hope to increase awareness of our programs. The Surrey Animal Resource Centre secured a $15,000 grant from PetSmart Charities of Canada to pilot this community event.
