Picnic tips to ensure a good time

Darpan News Desk, 08 Jul, 2016 12:22 PM
    The art of assembly
When making purchasing decisions, make it easy on yourself! Whenever possible, purchase quality pre-made products such as the President's Choice (PC) Beet Hummus Chickpea Dip and Spread. One of my favourite recipes is the BBQ Lamb on Beet Hummus Flatbread and most of the ingredients are all ready for you. This helps create a feast that is easy to prepare, yet memorable.

Breathe new life into summer classics
Take your standard potato salad and instead of tossing with plain old mayo, toss with a fresh PC Pico de Gallo Mild Salsa, shredded cheese, black olives and cilantro. Switch up your standard burgers for PC Loads of Spinach & Parmesan Atlantic Salmon Burgers topped with tzatziki, feta and iceberg lettuce or dress up your burger with some PC Sriracha Mayo Sandwich Spread or ketchup, Texas caviar or flavourful chutneys.

    Bevvies and Iced Treats
Staying hydrated is always important. Always have a large cooler or bucket full of ice and an assortment of lemonade, sparkling beverages and water. For a summer cocktail try freezing your mix into Popsicles and using them to chill down your cocktails. Make your signature cocktail into a Popsicle treat for adults. A lemonade mojito is always a fan favourite.

    Decor - Simple is Best
Use craft paper instead of your standard table runner to add a casual element to your outdoor setting. Whether you’re dining from a picnic basket or at a seated dinner, an eclectic mix of plastic dishes is best, especially for little guests. The PC Home Collection for summer is colourful and fresh, add a few florals and your table is set! Don’t forget to put out enough cushions and blankets to make everyone comfortable.
