14 year old girl dead after collision in Burnaby

BURNABY, B.C. - A 14-year-old girl has been hit and killed by a dump truck in Burnaby, B.C.

RCMP say it happened just after 3 p.m. Thursday on a road in the southeast corner of the city.

The driver of the dump truck and trailer unit stayed at the scene and police say impairment is not believed to have been a factor.

Burnaby RCMP’s criminal collision investigation team is leading the case.

Corp. Brent Cunningham says the death of the teen will be felt throughout the community and the detachment's Victim Services Unit is offering support to those affected.

Police also want to speak to any witnesses or drivers who may have dashcam video of the area around the scene.

During the course of the foot pursuit there was a confrontation and the police officer fired their weapon striking the man. First-aid was provided and he was transported to hospital where he later died.
