A 19-year-old South Asian man has died after being shot inside his vehicle in Surrey Sunday night, and police say this is a targeted incident.

According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Unit (IHIT) Harman Singh Dhesi was found with gunshot wounds just after 10:30pm near 137A Street and 90 Avenue on December 27th. Dhesi was taken to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

Police are asking anyone who has information to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-4448 or to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 if they with to remain anonymous.

“The initial phase of any investigation is critical for us as we move quickly to secure time-sensitive and perishable evidence,” writes Sgt. Frank Jang.
