Police in New Westminster have charged two men with assault in a stabbing described as an "unprovoked attack by a stranger."
Police say officers were flagged down on the night of July 30th to assist someone suffering from a stab wound in the abdomen.
The victim survived the attack and was taken to hospital.
Investigators say they then gathered evidence at the scene that led them to the arrest of the two suspects on August 29th.
British Columbia's River Forecast Centre lifted a flood warning for the Lillooet and Squamish rivers, saying flows remain high but rainfall and snowmelt are tapering off. Surrey RCMP say multiple shots were fired at a home in the 2800 block of 154 Street in Surrey at 1:21 a.m. in what is believed to be an isolated incident. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun with the group Sikhs For Justice says the home belongs to an member of the movement who is an associate of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was killed in a shooting last June that triggered a diplomatic row with India.
Global Affairs Canada announced Tuesday it is investigating a cyberattack and data breach that has forced it to limit remote access to its networks. The department said in a statement, which confirmed earlier media reports, that early results from the investigation found someone accessed the personal information of employees.
