2 new mass-timber courses to start at BCIT

Two new mass-timber courses are slated to begin in the fall at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

In addition, the province is providing 3.3-million-dollars to the school for the creation of a mass-timber training hub at B-C-I-T's Burnaby campus.

The provincial government says once the hub is completed, all mass-timber training courses will be housed there.

Trade Minister Jagrup Brar says partnering with B-C-I-T will help ensure B-C has enough workers with the right skills to construct buildings of the future with mass timber.

Supporting mass-timber construction brings the Province closer to its goal of building a more sustainable, inclusive and innovative economy for people, businesses and communities throughout B.C.

R-C-M-P say a man in his 30s has been arrested and charged with break-and-enter after a burglary in North Vancouver. Sajjan says the funds will flow through agencies of the United Nations and the Red Cross as well as non-governmental organizations to provide basic food, water and health services.
