2 people in custody after shots fired in Newton

Surrey RCMP were on scene in the Newton area of Surrey for a report of shots being fired.

At approximately 5:41 pm on August 20, 2021, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 13700 block of 70^th Avenue. A male was located suffering from serious, life threatening injuries and was transported to local hospital. Two individuals are currently in custody.

Surrey RCMP has taken two people into custody following a shooting in Newton yesterday at approx 5:40 pm where one man was injured. Initial indications are that it was a targeted incident between parties known to one another. The investigation is ongoing. pic.twitter.com/yGRXrAZnJf

The incident is not related to the ongoing Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.
